My name is Ron Samul and you probably found this website because of web information linked here. On the top tab you can click on my resume, professional, and creative samples.
Writing and Publishing
My extensive background in writing, editing, and publishing includes experience in print and electronic media to deliver news, information, literature, reports, and collaborative projects to various audiences and prospective clients in the field of news, advertising, and information sharing. I am the publisher of Miranda Literary Magazine, an international on-line literary magazine and have published more than one hundred poets, writers, and visual artists over the last two years. While section editors work on traditional genres, my development has been focused on multimedia, interactive video, pod casts, and collaborative projects to enhance the reading experience.
I hold an M.F.A. in Professional Writing from Western Connecticut State University. My primary genre is contemporary and historical novel writing. I also write short stories, articles on the craft, book reviews, and academic writing. I was part of the creative reading at the AWP Conference in Austin, Texas in 2006. I am a standing literary judge for the IMPAC Connecticut State University Young Writers Competition. I am the winner of the Connecticut A.W.P. award in Fiction (2005)
Teaching & Mentoring
My teaching experience includes college teaching and advising, Adult Education enrichment programs, professional tutoring, creative writing workshops, and graduate level mentoring. I am an adjunct writing mentor through Western Connecticut State University while I teach and advise undergraduates at Mitchell College in the Thames Academy Program.
